Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little about their history.
Today’s Waifu is Tionishia or Tio as she is called by her friends. She’s an ogre girl Monster Musume.
Tio is a member of MON (Monster Ops Neutralization), a special team of monster girls who intervene in monster-related crimes and incidents to maintain the peace of an integrated society. Tio is the friendly heavyweight of the team, who despite being so big, is easily the girliest and cuddliest member of the team.
During a mission, Tio wears heavy armor and wields heavy weapons. She is the de facto vanguard of the MON team, supporting her teammates with superior strength, toughness and firepower. But when she’s not on a mission, Tio’s real personality comes out and she trades her heavy armor for cute dresses, hats and ribbons.
She enjoys making clothes as a hobby, although it is largely a matter of necessity. As a boogeyman, Tio usually cannot find clothes that suit her in the store. She is 6 feet tall and has the second largest chest of all Monster Musume series with a P cup, making her second only to Cathyl de Holstaur, and between both of these factors, conventional sizing is clearly not going to work for her.
Monster Musume is an ongoing manga series from creator Takemaru Inui whose previous work includes another monster girl series: 12 Beast. The manga series has been running since 2012 and received an anime adaptation in 2015.
Monster Musume is released in English (and is apparently uncensored) by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Tio was suggested by our reader as this week’s waifu @Shawnpai619!
