The Duskbloods was perhaps one of the biggest surprises in the recent massive Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. Although many initially saw it as a spiritual successor to Bloodborne – a lot in how Dark Souls was effective Demon’s Souls 2 – this impression has changed now that we have learned much more about it.
The Duskbloods is not Bloodborne 2. In fact, it is not even the lonely experience with one player who expect from software fans from the studio.

In A new interview With game director Hidetaka Miyazaki we have much more information about how this idea came to life, as well as some of the goals of software with the dusk. According to the veteran director, the game started as a Switch title before the development shifted to the Switch 2.
Fromsoft is clearly not entirely new for online multiplayer; Most games of the studio offer online cooperative and PVP, and the coming Elden Ring Nightreign is an online cooperative game. However, the dusk floods do not fit neatly in one of those boxes.
Miyazaki noted that the team had been experimenting for a while with a way to merge his enemy of world class and design more directly with cooperative and PVP. The BloodSworn – the main characters of the game/player – all compete for first blood because of the power it has.

The game has a stream that everyone who played Battle Royale games should be known. Eight players spawn in a hub area, where they can choose from previously made classes, adjust their character and participate in the competition. Players spawn at random locations in the different cards of the game, of which Miyazaki said they display different eras of humanity.
Win or loss, all players return to the hub with a few non -specific rewards to grow and return their characters. Oh, and the cute rat that is seen at the end of the trailer is the version of the Fire keeper of the game. It is actually a ‘older gentleman’, from Soft just wanted to make ‘something cute for the change’ to be more in accordance with the Nintendo brand.
In the match itself, your goal is to be the last player who is standing – quite typical of BR and to achieve victory points. These can be obtained by direct fighting, or only by participating when you are guaranteed to win, so -called third party.

However, some events can change this structure and introduce different victory conditions. Miyazaki gave the example to solve players by downing a boss to win. The game is even dynamic enough to occasionally spawn special enemies and to set new objectives for players. According to Miyazaki, the studio wanted to make several roads for players to succeed, so that even those who are not good in PVP could still find it satisfactory.
The director also touched this idea of roles that players can choose from and adjust. Some of the examples given include a role that one player will do to get another specific player, or to protect them instead. Roles can be assigned to any character using blood.
The Duskbloods is a Switch 2 -exclusive that arrives somewhere in 2026, and it sounds like from software wanted to try many new interesting ideas with these, so it is perhaps the most interesting project to date.
