It looks like images of some retail-ready Joy-Cons for the all-but-confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 have appeared online, but honestly, I just want to know more about the games.
I don’t care what the Switch 2 looks like. I don’t worry about whether it’s bigger or not. I’m glad to hear that the rumors suggest the Joy-Cons should be free, but I really don’t care what they look like in some alleged photos of them (you can check these out below). The Switch 2 will almost certainly be a bigger, better version of the first, with perhaps a few new features here and there. We all know we’re going to buy the thing, and with more and more leaks coming out, it’s increasingly likely that an official reveal from Nintendo is just around the corner (with this particular leak, what’s on display this week showcase you think).

Hardware these days won’t be as risky as it used to be, so I don’t really expect anything particularly exciting. That leaves us with one more thing to be excited about: the games! The one thing to like about the alleged Joy-Cons is that they look a little bigger than their predecessor, so we can prioritize feeling comfortable while playing whatever Nintendo has in store. Presumably Metroid Prime 4 will be a multiplatform title, with improvements on the Switch 2, but beyond that it’s really anyone’s guess.

You can also assume that a new mainline 3D Mario is on the way, since there hasn’t been a new one since the Switch’s launch year, and there’s always Mario Kart (although Nintendo may be happy to wait with 8 Deluxe’s DLC to year two of switch 2). The thing is, the hardware usually just makes all these new games look a little nicer, so let’s just wait and get excited about an ad when it officially comes, like we normally do.
