Rock Band 4’s weekly DLC release will end on January 25, bringing an end to a service that has been running for 8 years. According to Harmonix, more than 3,000 songs have been added to the Rock Band 4 catalog. Nothing else stops for the game while all other live services continue, including Rivals and online play.
Harmonix has also confirmed that anyone who owns the songs will be able to play them for as long as they want. Harmonix’s focus now is on Fortnite Festival, which the studio has been working on for the past two years. Rock Band 4 instruments will soon be compatible with the Fortnite Festival experience, but plans after that are not publicly known. The last few weeks of DLC for Rock Band 4 will be tearjerkers, but the numbers haven’t been confirmed yet.
In our review, Dom wrote:“Rock Band 4 is essentially an excellent update to what was arguably the best rhythm action game of the last generation. Currently, however, it feels like it lacks ambition, and some features haven’t gotten the update they could have, while others have been removed. As a platform, it’s certainly a solid and highly enjoyable foundation that will definitely make you feel like a rock star at best. Basically, with the series of planned updates still to come, only time will tell if Harmonix can make this generation’s Rock Band a truly essential purchase.”
