Dauntless and FAE Farms developer Phoenix Labs has announced that they will dismiss “the majority of the studio”, so that the future of their two games remains seriously questioning.
On a message to LinkedInThe studio writes:
Today is another difficult day at Phoenix Labs. We have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the majority of the studio as part of unfortunate but necessary changes to our activities.
We recognize and appreciate the contributions of each affected individual. Their talent, dedication and creativity have left an indelible mark on our company and our games.
In the coming weeks we will share more details about what this means for Dauntless and Fae Farm. For now, our focus is on supporting those affected by this transition.
For our colleagues in the sector we encourage you to reach these exceptional individuals – they are some of the best in business.
The company had previously made considerable cuts last year, with dismissals and project disposals in May 2024 that would affect an estimated 140 employees.
Our thoughts of course go out to all those who are now being hit by these further fired, and we hope that how terrible the game industry sees at the moment, they will soon be able to find new work.
The latter announcement would suggest that continuous development for Dauntless and Fae Farm will be seriously affected, and it is still to see whether and how the company is planning to support them in the future.
Dauntless was the biggest hit of the studio and received his full launch in 2019 and able to ride the wave of interest in the Monster Hunter formula. In our Dauntless Review we said: “Although hardly any original in its starting point, Dauntless offers an extremely fun and accessible view of the monster-huning role-play game. It does not waste time to throw you in the action immediately and although it is easy to pick up, there is sufficient depth for fans of the genre. What is Dankklonlesser is completely free to play, who grace those annoying pitfalls of the income, we are so used to. “
