OnePlus was the latest company to join the tablet party last year.
While the OnePlus Pad was quite impressive, its successor was never far away. A new device known as the OnePlus Pad Pro is launching in China, but this could be rebranded as the Pad 2.
If this is true, OnePlus’ claim that it is “the most powerful Android tablet” raises questions about its possible specs and pricing.
Below you can read everything we currently know about it.
When will the OnePlus Pad 2 be released?
OnePlus has teased the Pad Pro on Weibo, hinting at an upcoming release in China June 27. This is the first launch of a tablet in this category by OnePlus in the region.
As a reminder, the OnePlus Pad was announced on February 7, 2023 and later released globally on May 8, 2023. Given its availability in the US, the new model might debut outside of China as the OnePlus Pad 2 to avoid any confusion.
How much will the OnePlus Pad 2 cost?
While official pricing details are not yet available, the competitive price of the OnePlus Pad suggests a similar approach for the new model.
At the price of $499/£449, the current version offers impressive specs, making it likely that the Pad Pro will follow suit with a value-oriented price point.
However, the price could also see an increase, especially if OnePlus opts for the latest and greatest chipset.
What specifications and features will the OnePlus Pad 2 have?
Assuming the OnePlus Pad Pro is rebranded as Pad 2 in the West, we’ll know a lot more about it soon. In the meantime, the rumors paint a convincing picture of what we can expect.
Design and display
A recent leak by Digital Chat Station reveals real-life images of the alleged OnePlus Pad Pro. The images suggest that the design of the new tablet is very similar to the original OnePlus Pad.

However, it appears that the display will remain an LCD panel. While the original OnePlus Pad’s 11.61-inch LCD screen was notable for its price, with Dolby Vision support and a 144Hz refresh rate, an OLED screen would be more desirable for superior multimedia performance.
Performance
The OnePlus Pad is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9000 paired with 8/12 GB RAM and 128 or 256 GB storage.
According to the recent teaser image shared by OnePlus on Weibo, the Pad Pro will be the most powerful Android tablet, hinting at the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This would correspond to a Geekbench 6 listing called ‘OnePlus OPD2404’, presumably the OnePlus Pad Pro.

The listing claims that the tablet will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The tested device, running Android 14 with 8 GB of RAM, scored 2,103 in single-core and 6,297 in multi-core tests, although performance may improve in the retail version.
Furthermore, Max Jambor also claimed in April that the OnePlus Pad Pro will feature the 8 Gen 3 chipset.
However, the Dimensity 9300+ is also a likely contender as it is currently considered the most powerful Android chipset. OnePlus could opt for this to balance performance and cost, especially since the original Pad also used a MediaTek chipset (Dimensity 9000).
We don’t know anything about the battery and cameras, so we assume they will remain the same for now. As a reminder, the OnePlus Pad has a 9510 mAh battery and two cameras: a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP selfie camera.

Either way, the OnePlus Pad Pro is poised to become a major player in the market. With claims of being the most powerful Android tablet, it will attract a lot of attention.
