Films are a forming part of the American psyche. Historically, their influence may have been the strongest when the times are rough; There are countless stories about people who have found escapism and/or a reason to keep going ahead for the price of a nickel or a cent in a theater. The fourth edition of Vogue World will take on Hollywood in October; Norma Kamali arrived early with her richly tinted, playful, even somewhat decadent resort collection.
Kamali asked a rhetorical question about our Walk-through: “What is the point where American fashion came into its own? For me it is really the classic films of the 1920s, ’30, ’40s, ’50. I thought of how these films are really not celebrated as our fashion history. Fashion, There were fashion magazines, but they were very elitist. My mother and her contemporaries would go to the films to see hairstyles and styles wear – so they would learn about fashion, makeup, everything. And so I thought, I don’t want to do vintage retro, but the spirit of classical American fashion is alive and good on every red carpet; Its spirit has never disappeared, it is part of who we are. “
Kamali inherited a film fascination that goes all the way back to the black and white era, from her mother. This collection has a section dedicated to both shades. The designer tells a sort of winter wonderland story with the whites, where Faux fur combines with sequins with the diamond glitter of fresh fallen snow, and there is a hint of Mae West-Volupersheid for a series of complicated pattern pattern on mesh. This group contains slender column dresses and what looks like lingerie instructions and panties, but those are in fact swimsuit. Why don’t you bring a little Hollywood -Glamour to the pool? Film Noir meets Punk in Jersey pieces with patterns traced by hundreds by hand-applied silver safety pins. The majority of the collection, however, borrow its palette from deep emerald green and grenade-red from a jewelry box. As Kamali said: “We can appreciate black and white in moments, but we see so much more.
