The upcoming restart of Ranma 1/2 has released their first trailer and it looks like it has almost as much fan service as the original series!
The new series was announced following the success of a new Rumiko Takahashi reboot, Urusei Yatsura which brought the classic anime to a modern audience.
Rumiko Takahashi’s Ranma 1/2 manga, first serialized in 1987, tells of martial artist Ranma Saotome, who, after falling into a mystical spring in China, is cursed: if Ranma were doused with cold water, Ranma will turn into a woman, if the feminine Ranma gets splashed with hot water. water, Ranma will return to a man, and so on.
The new series also brings back the original ’80s voice actors with:
- Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma Saotome (male)
- Megumi Hayashibara as Ranma-chan (female)
- Noriko Hidaka as Akane Tendo

The new Ranma 1/2 series premieres on October 5 as part of the Fall 2024 anime season.
