For spring 2025, Moisés Nieto was inspired by Giorgio Morondi, one of Italy’s most celebrated artists of the 20th century, who created a universe of his own, formed from everyday objects and soft, muted colors, detached from the outside world and the usual references of artists. “Morandi consistently explored the same shapes and refined them with each iteration,” explains the Jaén-born designer. “I approach my collections in much the same way; I don’t create something new every season. Instead, I improve the pieces to increase the intrinsic value of the design itself.”
To translate Morandi’s paintings into fashion, Nieto envisioned a collection of relaxed silhouettes, with straight lines gently defining the body. The majority of the looks were created by wearing simple shirts under bottle tops. “It’s essentially a reissue of our most successful pieces, such as column dresses and slip dresses,” he added. The standout piece was a transitional trench coat, cut in a lightly creased Italian technical fabric with a remarkable lightness not unlike that of cotton poplin. A brighter color palette, ranging from beige to yellow, served a specific purpose. “We want to appeal to a broader, younger audience,” the designer revealed. The bags, versatile designs in vibrant shades of cotton or leather, added a cool touch.
