Netflix is launching a local adaptation of “Love Is Blind” in Italy following recent European reruns of the popular reality dating show in the UK and Sweden.
“Love Is Blind Italy,” which is produced by Banijay Italia for Netflix, “has begun casting and is now open to Italian residents,” according to a Netflix statement that did not reveal when the streaming giant plans to release the Italian version of the show to broadcast.
Since its 2020 U.S. premiere, “Love Is Blind” has become one of Nielsen’s 10 most-streamed titles 23 times in six seasons in the United States, while also gaining status as a global phenomenon.
The original American ‘Love Is Blind’ series has so far spawned local adaptations in Japan, Brazil, Sweden, Britain, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Argentina, the UAE and now Italy.
The latest fully produced version of the addictive reality series dubbed a social ‘experiment’ in which a handful of singles enter soundproof ‘pods’ where they then date other singles without ever being able to see their potential companion is ‘Love is Blind, Habibi” which debuts on Netflix on October 10 and was filmed in Dubai.
The UK version, released in August, shared the same synopsis as the US version, and followed 30 singles who “have signed up for a less conventional approach to modern dating, and will choose someone to marry without ever meeting them.” The singles came from Dublin, London, Edinburgh and everywhere in between, ranged in age from 27 to 38 and included a chicken restaurateur, a techno DJ and a baby photographer.
