Kvicha Kvaratskhelia is one step closer to leaving Napoli in the January transfer window. Napoli manager Antonio Conte has confirmed the player’s intention to leave the Azzurri this winter. According to the latest reports, French side PSG is currently in talks with Napoli and the Georgian winger’s agents to reach an agreement.
Conte, who was appointed to Napoli in the summer of 2024, spoke about Kvaratskhelia’s future during the press conference ahead of his team’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona.
“Yes, Kvara has asked to sell the club.”
Conte was open to speaking on the matter after journalists asked him for clarification on rumors surrounding the winger’s future. “I spoke to the player and he confirmed it. I feel a great disappointment because I worked with him for six months, which made him feel at the center of the project and work with the club. After six months we returned to the starting point.
“This means that I have not been as astute in convincing the two sides to move forward together. Today I’m at a point where I need to take a step back. I cannot chain those who will not stay. Now the situation is that the club, Kvara and his entourage must resolve. “I don’t want you to think that if the player has to stay, I vetoed the match with Verona. We are going to lose an important player,” he said.
Napoli are reportedly asking for a fee of €80 million to sell the player this winter, while PSG are also talking to the player’s agents to agree personal terms. After scoring a total of 30 goals in 107 games in all competitions, winning the 2022/23 Serie A title and being awarded the title of MVP that season, the story between Kvaratskhelia and Napoli seems almost over.
