Speaking of outfits, at the Los Angeles premiere, Erivo certainly delivered one of her best Elphaba-inspired looks yet. Working with stylist Jason Bolden, the star opted for a green vinyl Louis Vuitton dress with a matching feather stole. ‘The LA carpet [look] for me it is such a wow factor: the color, the fabric,” says Erivo. “It just feels electric…[it lets] my character really owns the color green in such a big, bold way!” Although Erivo wore a lot of green numbers during the press tour, she says there was something fresh and original about this latest choice. “My stylist Jason had the idea to ask Louis Vuitton about vinyl, which isn’t normally the first choice when it comes to a carpet,” she says. “I thought the choice of fabric was strong and divine, that’s how I see my character. We’ve also worked with LV on a vinyl look before, which added a wow factor, so I think we wanted to try that again and see what the reaction would be this time.”
Meanwhile, just as wow-inducing? The 18-karat white gold, diamond and emerald Roberto Coin necklace she wore around her neck is valued at $750,000. She also wore the label’s 18-karat white gold, diamond and emerald rings and earrings. Dressing up is certainly fun, but Erivo says the film will stay with her for very different reasons. “It’s quite relevant to where we are in the world right now,” says Erivo. “I think it will always be relevant. Not to mention we’re not done yet; we’re just getting started. There’s a whole other movie to go.
