“I mean, there is a diamond of a million dollars that is just in the middle of her forehead,” Brett Alan NelsonDoja’s creative director and stylist, said Fashion. “It is the most important art of the year. It is her first with Gala, and we must be bigger than what we have done in the past.”
2024’s mascara tears
Before Gala 2024, Doja Cat went the more unconventional route. Instead of flowers or green inspired to match the theme of the Night of Sleeping Beauties: again awakening fashion, she tapped on water elements and called in the makeup artist Pat McGrath from celebrities to create her appearance of bold mascara tears.
She debuted the look outside the Mark Hotel and wore a towel around her head and her body wrapped. It gave “I-Just-Got-Out-of-the-Shower” meeting Ultra-Glam-Vibes that everyone absolutely loved.

“We used glitter to paint glittering, enchanted tears of joy down her cheeks,” McGrath told Fashion. “On her lids we made the most beautiful gilded cat eyes with the help of black pencil, black liquid lining, a lot of mascara and the warm sparkling shades in my motherhood V: Bronze temptation palette. She absolutely looks big!”
