Earlier this month, Blizzard outlined their plans for Diablo 4 in 2025 that, in particular, teased that the action game would get a few collabs. They did not mention what the collaborations would be, only that they exist, on which I said “ugh” because, well, ugh, why does everything have to have collabs nowadays? The annoying thing is that Blizzard has nailed it a bit with the first, which happens to be the case with the iconic Dark Fantasy series Berserk.
Yes, the same Berserk that is essentially half of the reason we have dark souls, why Cloud has his gigantic Buster Sword and why the Dark Knight role exists in Final Fantasy as a whole. The official Diablo Twitter (or ex, or whatever) shared an animated teaser with a very bare and bearded man who wore the armor of the Berserk protagonist Bowels, who also swung around his iconic sword, but did not show much more than that. My gamble is that it will be a cosmetic that you can at least unlock, but perhaps there will also be a gameplay branches.

I will still never be sold on collabs like these in games, they just feel a cheap way to make people enthusiastic about brand or intellectual property in a way that feels unfair. Blizzard lied at least not when they said that the collabs will contain universes that supplement the dark themes’.
There is also no word about when the collaboration might arrive in the game, but it should come by July, because it is part of the upcoming eighth season of the game, the return of Belial. That starts on April 29, so you have enough time to view the beautiful original anime (and then fulfill your fate to complain that the only animated follow-up it got, mediocre 3D efforts were), and not so much time to read the original Manga. I still suppose it is worth an attempt.
