Darkest Dungeon II is getting a major campaign expansion called Kingdoms for free, alongside a paid DLC called Inhuman Bondage, and Red Hook Studios has released details on both. Firstly, the paid DLC, Inhuman Bondage, is coming in the fourth quarter of 2024. This will add a new hero who will have unique trinkets, weapons, palettes and mechanics. It will also add a new region the size of the Lock, which will also add a new enemy faction and items.
The Kingdoms campaign will be released in three parts, the first of which is Hunger of the Beast Clan. This release requires players to protect the realm from new enemy factions, in this case the Beastmen. Players will have to travel across the land to complete missions and upgrade the inns across the realm. Kingdoms runs parallel to the main Confessions campaign.

The style, challenge and strategic brilliance remain and that’s enough to still make it stand out. However, the focus on roguelike randomness and excessive grind makes this a very different experience and one that didn’t suit me. If you have the patience to explore the rich details of the mechanics and the stoicism to deal with the inevitable deaths and disappointments, then this is a journey worth taking. Just don’t expect it to be a comfortable ride.”
