“Daily Show” correspondent Ronny Chieng provided a scathing summary of Donald Trump’s bizarre appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention on Wednesday.
“Trump was like, ‘Listen, black people: you’re always late, your microphones are ghetto and I’m Abraham Lincoln,’” he said, adding sarcastically, “I think he just won the black vote .’
Indeed, Trump complained about the event’s delayed start and audio problems, proclaiming himself the best president for black Americans since Lincoln.
Chieng, who is hosting this week, said this would be a low point for almost everyone.
“But because it’s Donald Trump, it somehow made it worse,” he said, then rolled over footage of Trump claiming that Vice President Kamala Harris “was always of Indian descent,” but then “coincidentally turned black’.
“I think someone needs to look at that,” Trump said.
“I don’t know what’s worse,” Chieng said. “That he thinks she has changed from Indian to Black or that he thinks someone should look into that. Who should investigate that? Does he think the FBI is the Federal Black Investigators?
Chieng said Trump’s attack on Harris’ race and ethnicity on Wednesday, combined with his comments about her age earlier this week, can only mean one thing.
“It’s very clear that Trump doesn’t quite know how to deal with Kamala Harris at this point,” he said.
