From A Hat in Time to Summer in Mara, fun games usually do very well on Kickstarter. Outgoing is the latest game in the cozy genre to reach its Kickstarter funding goal.
With an initial funding goal of $33,407, Outgoing has raised nearly $200,000 to date on Kickstarter and there are almost two weeks left to raise more money. With so much horror content in the indie sphere, it’s probably no surprise that players want to experience something light to balance the scales.
Outbound is in development for Windows PC (via Steam) and now Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4 and PS5.
Outbound is a fun exploration and crafting game for campers. Attention is paid to sustainability. The game takes place in the near future, where humans have managed to defeat climate change and pollution. Everyone lives sustainably. The released images show wind farms and there is no coal or oil extraction.
Some people would call this a solarpunk world, the opposite of cyberpunk. It is a hopeful world with bright colors. The game is certainly resonating with Kickstarter’s user base, which has helped the game achieve all its ambitious goals, meaning players can have an animal companion with them on their journey.
Outbound is scheduled for January 2026, but if you back it on Kickstarter you can play the early access release in summer 2025. There are other rewards, such as the privilege of designing parts of the game and unique skins.
