“Saltburn” star Barry Keoghan will appear alongside Cillian Murphy in the upcoming Netflix film “Peaky Blinders.”
Details about his role have not yet been announced.
Netflix confirmed earlier this summer that Murphy would return as fearsome gangster Thomas Shelby in the film, directed by Tom Harper (“Heart of Stone”). Harper previously directed episodes of the first season of “Peaky Blinders.”
Steven Knight created the hit series, set in turn-of-the-century Birmingham, in 2013. Knight has returned to write the film and will also co-produce with Murphy and others.
“I’m really excited that this movie is going to happen,” Knight previously said. “It will be an explosive chapter in the ‘Peaky Blinders’ story. No restrictions whatsoever. Full about ‘Peaky Blinders’ at war.”
Rebecca Ferguson is also set to star in the film, with production set to start later this year.
Keoghan was nominated for an Oscar for his role in ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ opposite Colin Farrell and won a BAFTA for his portrayal of a scheming working-class Oxford man in ‘Saltburn’. He also recently appeared in Sabrina Carpenter’s music video for ‘Please, Please, Please.’
In June, the production company that houses ‘Peaky Blinders’ IP, Caryn Mandabach Productions Limited, was acquired by Banijay UK. The name has since been changed to Garrison Drama Limited. Caryn Mandabach, who founded the company, has left the company but remains attached to the film as a producer. She has also signed a separate development deal with Banijay UK
