The weather forecast said he would expect rain. But on Wednesday morning, arrival in Aje’s Resort 2026 show in the brand new Barangaroo Pier Pavilion, a common room with a view of the water, the sky was the blueest blue, strewn by the kind of perfectly imperfect white clouds that feel happy to live. That was the formidable background for Edwina Forest and Adrian Norris’s romantic but grounded version of Aussie style, which they said this season was inspired by the Normandy region in France and the impressionists. “We often look at nature, and we were fascinated by how they captured the mood and the light. So there is a lot of transparency and coverage in the collection; a kind of fluidity with different shapes and blossoms bloom,” Forest said.
The line -up contained a horn of abundance of different volumes and textures; “Feather Boas” made from chiffon petals, very 80s balloonhomes that sprout from Strapless drawers party dresses, classic romantic corrugated dresses unexpectedly made of delicate Broderie Anglaise, and a swishy sunshine-guided skirt that made a wonderful noise passed. These floating silhouettes (and equally dreamy hand-painted prints) were grounded by a lot of denim-a dark laundry set with golden buttons, sour was long shorts and moto jackets, and even slingback pumps and more structured dresses, such as a mini-shift dress in a postcard-inspired print. It was a diverse collection that still wore the essence of the brand.
“We have done this for 17 years now – and we have not been on the right track a few times because we are trying to do something else – but now we are just doing and it feels good,” Forest explained. In anticipation of guests on their seats, a considerable crystal, the designers revealed that they had placed a few nights earlier under the full moon. It was impossible not to think that the stones might have something to do with the sunshine of the morning.
