That said, there is still very limited research into these blankets and their efficacy. In theory, the benefits must be comparable to other forms of heat therapy, but there is currently not sufficient evidence to be sure.
“It is very subjective, and everyone who does this must try the blanket and see if it works for them,” says Darshan Shah, MD, a specialist on a health and wellness-certified surgeon. “Some people cannot have an advantage, and some people can see benefits, and it just depends on how each individual reacts to it, because we do not have large -scale studies for red blankets, there is no way to know for sure how many people it helps to a long service life.”
Still, if you use the sauna blanket safely (taking into account time, temperature, correct hydration, consulting your doctor earlier, listening to your body) and you feel good after use, it can be a great addition to a wellness routine. Just know that researchers still determine their true health potential.
