How do the play -offs of the knockout phase work?
Teams will be sown at the end of the competition phase on the ninth to 16th and will be pulled against one of the non -sown teams. Each placed team will have four potential opponents and will discover their real enemy in Friday’s draw before they participate in a two -legged series.
The placed team will organize the second stage and the team with the larger aggregated score will continue to the round of 16, with extra time and punishments looming when the aggregated score is bound.

How are teams eligible for the knockouts?
In the 36-team League phase, the teams that end in the top eight earn a BYE and qualify directly for the round of 16. Those who will enter the very first knockout phase play-offs on the ninth to the 24th, while the Teams 25th or 25th or lower is eliminated. Unlike earlier editions of the Champions League, no teams will fall to the UEFA Europa League.
Are there roads and can teams from the same country meet?
The rule of road rule does not apply and there will be no restriction for teams from the same country that plays each other.
How does the round of 16 work?
Teams that ended the competition phase were the first to eighth being sown in this round, while the teams that went through the knock -out phase play -offs are not sown. The rules of the previous round apply and there will also be predetermined pairs that will make the bracket. However, there is an extra reward for the teams that have ended the competition phase in the top four – they will essentially have their own quadrants of the bracket and would not be opposed to the last stages of the competition.
